Volleyball Night

Sand volleyball is not my forte, but for some reason, I insist on playing every summer. My team’s record is 1-9 (we had 1 forfeit) and we’re hoping for a comeback tonight. We’re an awkward assembly of teammates. The team is a combination of middle-aged women; their children, who range from age 11-19 (we make them play when we get tired or when no one else shows); and the three twenty-somethings (myself included). One of the twenty-somethings can’t hit the ball, but will hit you in face if you get too close.

In other news, all the McGraw-Hill head honchos will be in Florida for the national sales meeting next week, and I can’t wait! The tension is building in the offices and my sponsoring editors are beginning to froth at the mouth. I was trying to find a place to hide in our copyroom this afternoon.

About Restless Cube Dweller

Most of my adult life has been defined finding homes in unconventional places, and learning to interact positively with others. I've lived in the middle of nowhere, in small cities, in large cities, in the suburbs, and now in Dubuque, Iowa. This blog represents my musings about growing up, moving on, finding love, and eating well in the suburbs and beyond.
