Obscure Dubuque Bar Crawl

IMG_0196Would you hop into a car next to this faux puma skin clad girl with an incoherent look in her eyes?

Too late, you’ve already been kidnapped.
Friday night was the first annual (or should it be monthly?) Obscure Dubuque Bar Crawl. Before I moved to Dubuque many people familiar with the city said something similar, There’s a church and a bar on every corner. While I found this fascinating, I also figured they were exaggerating. They were exaggerating a tad, but the fact still remains; there are a hell of a lot of churches and bars in Dubuque. Since I won’t be doing a church crawl anytime soon (holy water burns my skin), a bar crawl seemed like a logical step to truly acquaint myself with Dubuque.

The evening started innocently enough with a tomato mozzarella salad. The recipe is from the “How to Eat Supper Cookbook” by Lynne Rosetto Kasper, my personal hero. The olive oil dressing coats the stomach, excellent preparation for an evening of debauchery.

About Restless Cube Dweller

Most of my adult life has been defined finding homes in unconventional places, and learning to interact positively with others. I've lived in the middle of nowhere, in small cities, in large cities, in the suburbs, and now in Dubuque, Iowa. This blog represents my musings about growing up, moving on, finding love, and eating well in the suburbs and beyond.
