I was only recently introduced to William Elliott Whitmore’s album Animals in the Dark last fall and I’ve been listening to it every time I make the five-hour drive across fields and prairie from Dubuque to Sioux City. I’ve found that his music fits the landscape and the lifestyle perfectly; stark yet lush, gritty but beautiful.

After seeing Whitmore live in Keokuk on Saturday, my album collection has expanded its waistband drastically and that is a wonderful thing.
