Mom Visits

The earth trembled a bit as the plane carrying my mother and brother touched down at Midway last week. The tremors stopped shortly thereafter, but my gut continued to twist and tumble with apprehension. It is no secret that my mother did not approve of my move to Chicagoland or my cohabitation (see also “shacking up like a hussy”) with NM, so I was nervous.

Once they arrived, my jitters subsided a little, but I made sure to keep them very busy…

We ate Cheezborgers.

We took the Metra to Union Station

Hello Sue.

We played at the train station

NM tried to sneak away.

We took a long, frigid walk along Lake Michigan

We looked up a lot.

More frigid walking...

We watched the "hustle and bustle" (my mom's words, not mine)

She's still smiling. I guess we did okay! Phew!

About Restless Cube Dweller

Most of my adult life has been defined finding homes in unconventional places, and learning to interact positively with others. I've lived in the middle of nowhere, in small cities, in large cities, in the suburbs, and now in Dubuque, Iowa. This blog represents my musings about growing up, moving on, finding love, and eating well in the suburbs and beyond.
